Join us for this full day course and discover how to identify which words to teach and how to teach them.

Description

This practical course revisits the key theories and strategies to support the teaching and learning of vocabulary.

In this course, teachers will explore to identify the most useful words to explore in lessons and which strategies are best suited for teaching different types of vocabulary. The course will explore vocabulary across the curriculum as well as in the English classroom.

The course will also explore the importance of word histories and word families, linked directly to the National Curriculum. Throughout the course, teachers will be encouraged to explore high quality texts as a source for vocabulary.

Cost: Training SLA credits/£135. Non-SLA Schools £175.

Where participants have registered and are accepted onto courses there is an expectation that they will contact schoolsupportcourses@luton.gov.uk to cancel their place (within forty eight working hours of the course start time) if they are unable to attend. It is the responsibility of the attendee to sign the register otherwise this will count as non-attendance. Failure to do so will result in being charged for the delegate place.

Outcomes

Those attending will leave with a full understanding of how to identify and teach an enriched vocabulary.
