Sign 4 Rhyme

New course for 2018 Sign 4 Rhyme is a simple way to engage your children and support progress in literacy.

Outline

If you want to learn how to inject some fun and action into your songs and rhymes; how to include shy or quiet children, children learning English, or those who find it difficult to join in for other reasons; then this course is a great start.

This is a fun and interactive course to teach early years practitioners easy to learn signs from British Sign Language to sign along to well-known songs and rhymes.

Description

Research has shown that if a child knows eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they are four years old, they perform better in literacy than those that do not.
Rhyming and signing with children helps to create a fun, inclusive and multi-sensory learning environment.
From Old Mac Donald to Tommy Thumb, from Hello-songs to Goodbye songs, we will cover a minimum of 15 songs that you can start using in your setting right away!

The signs are taken from British Sign Language and are compatible with most other signing systems used in the UK.

No previous knowledge of signing is necessary to participate in this course.

Cost per person: Luton Nurseries/PVIs £45.00. Primary Schools: training subscription SLA or £67.50. Everyone else will be charged £87.50.

Where participants have registered and are accepted onto courses there is an expectation they will cancel their place, via the schoolsupport.luton.gov.uk website (within forty eight hours of the course start time) if they are unable to attend. Failure to do so will result in being charged for the delegate place.

Delegates who attend this session without booking a place will be charged £25.00 administration fee per person in addition to the course fee.
