This one day course will support curriculum leaders, especially those of the foundation subjects, in understanding the principles behind curriculum design. Leaders will be able to confidently identify and articulate what is to be taught when and why.
Recently there has been a renewed focus on the curriculum and how it is implemented in schools. In particular, the new OFSTED framework asks subject leaders to be able to explain the intent, implementation and impact of their curriculum choices.
In this one-day course, curriculum and subject leaders will have the opportunity to explore the thinking behind curriculum design. They will engage with research that presents the key principles behind knowledge acquisition to support the design of their own curriculum.
We will also explore how teachers can select the appropriate knowledge for their school, taking into account the context of their pupils. Curriculum leaders will be supported in structuring their curriculum by exploring ideas of spacing, interleaving and building schema.
Additionally, curriculum leaders will explore how feedback and responsive teaching can be incorporated to measure the impact of your curriculum.
Cost per person: SLA training subscription: 2 credits (£135) or £175.
